Classical Comments

Radio Kansas has embarked on several exciting changes to our Classical Music selection and presentation. As always, our only interest is to serve as many of you as possible within our means. We now offer three hosts with three different “takes” on the Classics.

We’re interested in what our listeners think of these changes. Perhaps you will be part of the discussion. If you wish, take time to comment today at comments@radiokansas.com.

Here are some of the comments we’ve received…

I like Peter van de Graaff’s on-air demeanor as well as his music selections, many of which seem to be, to my amateur classical music ears, outside the mainstream of threadbare greatest hits. I also greatly appreciate the background on composers and particular performances that he often provides. In these regards, he is expanding my interests and knowledge of the vast genre, and is making the listening experience one of adventure, thus keeping my interest piqued.

For example, a week or so, ago, he introduced to me, the English composer, Edmund Rubbra. In addition to new composers, he is introducing me to new works by familiar composers, and new performances of standard works. What’s not to like?!

    Bravo!

We have been faithful supporters of your station for many years, not only as listeners, but also as  financial contributors.  Of course we would not expect to like every composer or every piece of music you choose to play.  However in the past couple of weeks, we have heard very little music that we enjoy.  Honestly, we have turned the radio off and tuned in to classical music on our cable channel.  Just thought we should let you know.
